Who We Are

Biblically-Rooted Authenticity

Who we are and what we do is grounded in Scripture. We commit to being consistent in what we believe and how we live it out as a community of faith. We commit to the substance of Scripture over the vapor of style and personal preference and to authenticity over attraction.

  • John 15:4-5 – Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
  • Matthew 4:4 – But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 -All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
  • James 1:22 – Be doers of the Word and not hearers only.

Gospel-Centered Community

The Gospel calls us to live a life of faith together. The state of our relationships with each other reveal the state of our relationship with God. We commit to cultivating a genuine love for one another; a spirt of unity, even in disagreement; an attitude of selflessness; and a heart of service towards each other.

  • John 2:9 & 11 – Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness…  But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
  • 1 John 3:14-15 – We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
  • 1 John 4:20-21 – If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
  • Galatians 5:13-14 – For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Gospel-Powered Multiplication

We are called, as people of God, to build the Kingdom of God by the power of God for the glory of God. We commit to being a church of disciples that make disciples.

  • John 15:16 – “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
  • 2 Timothy 1:1 – “This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:2 – “…and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

Gospel-Driven Mission

Church is not about us, but about God’s desire to bring people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus. We commit our time, talents, and treasure to this endeavor in our local community and to the ends of the earth.

  • Matthew 28:19-20 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
  • Romans 10:14-15 – How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
